How It Works

From Consultation to Keys. Here's Every Step.

Building a casita in your backyard is a big project. You deserve to know exactly what happens, when it happens, and what you're responsible for (spoiler: not much). Here's our process, step by step.

01
Week 1

Free Consultation & Property Assessment

We visit your property, walk your yard, and assess what's possible. We'll discuss your goals — rental income, family housing, home office, guest suite — and recommend the best casita model based on your lot size, setbacks, and zoning.

What happens in this step:

  • 30-minute on-site visit at your property
  • Yard measurement and placement assessment
  • Goal discussion — income, family, value, or all three
  • Model recommendation based on your specific lot
  • Honest assessment — if a casita won't work for your property, we'll tell you

Week 1-2

Design & Your One Clear Price

You pick your model and we give you one price. That's it. Our quote includes everything — design, structural engineering, permits, materials, construction, and finish. No line items to decipher, no allowances that balloon later, no change-order games.

What happens in this step:

  • Choose from 4 models: Mojave (250sf), Sonoran (500sf), Saguaro (800sf), Oasis (1,000sf)
  • Select your exterior color: Space Grey, Light Grey, or Icy White
  • All-inclusive quote — design, permits, materials, build, and finish
  • No hidden fees, no change orders, no mid-project surprises
  • Quote is locked — the number we say is the number you pay

Weeks 2-8

Permitting & Engineering

This is where most builders lose homeowners — buried in city paperwork, bounced between departments, waiting months with no updates. We handle 100% of the permitting process. City applications, structural engineering plans, zoning review, and any HOA coordination.

What happens in this step:

  • Full structural engineering plans prepared by our licensed engineer
  • City permit applications filed and managed by our team
  • Zoning review and compliance verification
  • HOA coordination if your neighborhood requires it
  • Regular updates — you always know where your permit stands
  • You don't make a single call to the city
04
Weeks 8-12

Foundation & Framing

Once permits are approved, our crew breaks ground. We pour the foundation, frame the structure, and rough-in the electrical and plumbing systems. This is when your casita starts to take shape — and it happens fast.

What happens in this step:

  • Site preparation and grading
  • Concrete foundation pour
  • Wall framing and roof structure
  • Rough electrical and plumbing installation
  • Window and door openings set
  • All work done by our in-house crew — no subcontractors
05
Weeks 12-20

Systems, Finish & Detail Work

This is where your casita goes from a frame to a finished home. Every trade is handled in-house by our own crew — no subcontractors means no finger-pointing, no scheduling conflicts, and no quality gaps between trades.

What happens in this step:

  • Full HVAC system installation
  • Electrical finish — outlets, switches, LED lighting, panel
  • Plumbing finish — fixtures, water heater, connections
  • Insulation and drywall
  • Laminate flooring throughout
  • Cabinetry and countertops (kitchenette or full kitchen)
  • Interior and exterior paint
  • Exterior stucco and trim
  • Premium sliding glass door installation
  • 9ft ceilings standard on all models
06
Weeks 20-24

Final Inspection & Key Handoff

City inspection, certificate of occupancy, and a full walkthrough with you. We walk every inch of your new casita together, review every system, answer every question, and hand you the keys. Your warranty starts the day we hand over.

What happens in this step:

  • City final inspection and certificate of occupancy
  • Full walkthrough — every room, every system, every finish
  • Written warranty on workmanship and materials
  • Move-in ready — utilities connected and tested
  • Guidance on next steps (rental setup, insurance, etc.)
